Have you ever seen one of those "Weather forecasters" that are just a piece of string? You use it to forecast the weather by noting things like, if it's wet, it's raining, if it's dry, it's sunny, if it's moving, it's windy, if it's gone, there's a tornado. Something like that. Well, you can kind of use bumblebees that way:
Surely you can tell just by looking at a picture of one of today's bees that today's weather was different from yesterday's. Instead of soggy, the bees were dry. What you cannot tell from the picture is that they were stuporous, because while yesterday was hot, teetering on the edge of 80ºF, today topped out at 60ºF, and it was only in the 50s when I went out to do my bug walk. It was windy on both days, and gloomy, but today we got only a sprinkle of rain.
Backyard Bug of the Day:
Some sort of Hemiptera
Random Bugs:
Some other sort of Hemiptera.
Looper caterpillar
Long-legged fly
I am posting this terribly out of focus picture because it gives you a better idea of the amazing color of the long-legged fly than the one that is in focus
Cranefly
I saw a lot of candy striped leaf hoppers today. I think that another name for them is red-banded leaf hopper, but candy striped is a more fun name.
Besides, they don't all have a real red. This one is more orange.

Jumping spider
So cute how it tried to hide along the edge of the leaf.
