Today... I've really got nothing to say. I am so tired, and I don't remember what I was thinking about when I did my bug walk. So, let's just see what was out there.
First, I took a peek at the turkey in her nest:
I was pretty close to her the day I accidentally scared her off the nest, so I thought maybe if I didn't get close I could check in on her, and she didn't react at all to me being there. She didn't even move.
Backyard Bug of the Day:
Moth fly, which looks like a moth, but is a fly. Actually, when you see one flying all you get is the general sense of fluttering; it's too small to really see anything else about it. These are quite tiny, and don't like the camera to get close to them–I have a hard time getting pictures of these. I think this might be a new species; I don't remember any with that wing pattern.
It was on a leaf that was blowing in the breeze, so getting pictures was extra difficult. This is as close as I was able to get. Half of it is in focus, at least.
I think there's a pretty nice variety today in Other Bugs:
Carpenter bee on bleeding heart flowers
Bee on bluet flower
I think this is a species of soldier beetle.

Still no tortoises. Another garter snake. You probably can't tell, but this one is much smaller than the one from a couple of days ago. And much more relaxed, too; it didn't move from this coiled up position, or slither away.
