No Backyard Bug of the Day today, because there was nothing that qualified. That right there probably says it all about this summer of bugs–that there have been days when I did a bug walk but did not end up with a Backyard Bug of the Day.
So how about a Backyard Exuvia of the Day:
An exuvia is a discarded exoskeleton from an insect that has molted. This is a grasshopper exuvia. It looks like a grasshopper ghost.

This group is usually all piled on top of each other.This group is more venturesome, and is starting to spread out onto nearby plants:
