Just Bugs

I'm stressed out and I can't think. I have nothing profound or interesting to say. Here's some pictures of bugs.

Backyard Bug of the Day:

 Weevil. Weevils are beetles, but they don't look like beetles. I have no idea what makes them beetles. I do have an idea what makes them adorable. Those snouts... those eyes... the fact that they look kind of velvety... so many reasons, really... And yet, none of those are the reasons why there is a town in Georgia that has a monument to a species of weevil.

Other Bugs:

 The autumn joy sedum is attracting a lot of bumblebees lately.

The Japanese knotweeds is a attracting a lot of things:

Every time I try to get a picture of the multitudes of bugs on these plants they all fly away. Here's two, at least.

 I didn't see any aphids, but there's a ladybeetle there, so maybe there are.

 

 If you're a predatory bug, a plant that is attracting a lot of other bugs is a good place to hang out, as these two ambush bugs would probably agree.

 Wasp

There's quite a bit going on here:

 Fall webworm caterpillar "tent," and two assassin bugs, different species.

 I love that these assassin bugs look like they are meditating.

 Bee caught by an assassin bug. They're lurking everywhere.

 Goldenrod is another good place to be an ambush bug.

The funnel web spider let me get really close today. The reason it looks hazy is because this picture was taken through a couple of layers of web, which makes me wonder if it couldn't see me very well.
