86% Spiders

I was sure that today was going to be That Day - it was so cold outside, barely above freezing, and there were no bugs to be found in the backyard other than Rain Gauge Spider. But when I went around to the front of the house there were flies there, so they're still hanging on. But here's the thing. There's no point in me blogging every day just to say, "Yep, there's still flies around," because that's boring for you and me, and frankly, not worth the work for me. So from now on I am only going to post if I find something interesting, something other than the three different things I have been finding every day for the last week.

Like today. I didn't find anything new, but I thought that I would report that the woolly bear caterpillar has moved, and it no longer appears to be in danger of being squished, even though it's still in the package bin:
It has uncurled itself and moved off to the side. I'll check on it tomorrow, though, and see if I think it needs to be removed.

The woolly bear was not alone in the package bin, but for the others who were there we have to go to Arachnid Appreciation:

This is Rain Gauge Spider - a rare look at her from the underside as she sits on her web.

The rest of these were in the package bin:

Note some springtails around here, too.

There's a lot of this kind of thing in the package bin, too.
